NYX Lip Lingerie “Satin Ribbon” | Review

Hello friends!

When I went into this review, I thought for sure that I wouldn’t love this color and that I would pass it on afterwards because most of the time these shades don’t look good on me, but I was pleasantly surprised!  Because I have such pigmented lips, I’ve always found that pale colors look extremely patchy and weird on my lips, and I’ve always gotten rid of them.  However, I think I’ve found a winner!

Color: Satin Ribbon is an incredibly pale peach nude color that is probably the lightest lip color I own. This is definitely not a color for everyone, because it’s so peachy and pale and could potentially give the look of concealer lips.

Applicator: The applicator is very long compared to most standard liquid lipsticks, as you can see.  This holds enough product to cover both my bottom and top lips with just one side, which is saying a lot!  I’ve found that with most other liquid lipsticks, I have to either dip again or flip sides.  However, since there’s no point at the end of the applicator it’s hard to get a fine line. I personally didn’t have any issue getting a nice application, but it might be difficult for others.

Huda Beauty Lip Strobe “Mystical” | Review

Hello friends!

As you saw in my Makeup Brands I Want to Try in 2019 post, Huda Beauty is one of the brands that I want to test out this year!  It’s actually funny that I have them on my list, considering I’ve owned something from the brand for over a year, but at least I’m finally getting around to it!  Instead of starting with her liquid lipsticks, however, I’ll be reviewing a lip strobe I got in one of my Ipsy bags.

Color: Mystical is a beautiful purple with blue glitter flecks.  To me, purples always make me feel like my teeth look yellow, and this one is unfortunately not an exception.  However, it is a very unique shade to my collection!

Applicator: The applicator is definitely different compared to others I’ve used so far.  It has a traditional teardrop shape on top, but then tapers to a curved hook.  It’s also incredibly flexible, so it hugs your lips as you apply and makes getting an even line pretty easy.  The applicator holds just enough product to cover one of my lips, so I did have to dip the applicator back in to get more product for the other.

ColourPop Velvet Blur Lipstick “Lucky Strike” | Review

Hello friends!

Today I’m reviewing one of the new products I received from the mystery box Colourpop did a few weeks ago.  This is one of the newest releases from them, and I was so excited to see it, along with their new mascara!  If you’re curious to see what else I got, you can see the other pictures here.

The new Velvet Blur lipstick from Colourpop is described as a “unique matte” that provides a “soft focus, blurring effect”.  In essence, it’s a matte lipstick that doesn’t show texture on your lips!

Color: Lucky Strike is a midtone neutral pink, and on me it’s a my lips but better color.  The shade has just a touch more pink in it.  It’s definitely a stunning color that would flatter a lot of people.  Depending on the kind of neutral colors you wear, this might feel like a dark shade, so check the lip swatch to see what you think!

Packaging: Side note: isn’t this packaging absolutely stunning?!  Rose gold is my favorite metal, and the stars on it add such a cute touch to it. The word Colourpop is also etched into the lid of the packaging and is the same color as the small stars.  The shape of the bullet is very traditional to any other lipstick, but there are stars embossed on it as well!

How Do YOU Bullet Journal?

Hello friends!

If you follow my Instagram, you probably see my bullet journal spreads pop up at the beginning of each month.  I also wrote a blog post about my November 2018 spreads that you can check out here.

There are so many posts out there that talk about the “right” way to bullet journal, all sorts of different types of spreads, in general a million ways to bullet journal, and it can be incredibly overwhelming – especially when you’re just starting out!

To me, bullet journaling is an extremely personal thing, and the way you do it depends specifically on your tastes and what you want to get out of your journal.  When you’re just starting out, it can be incredibly difficult to know what style will work best with you, so I’ve picked four categories below that encompass a lot of what you’ll find when looking for inspiration.

Whatever sounds like it fits what you want from your bullet journal is the style you should give a try first!  Each category will have an example as well, so you can see exactly what it looks like and if it’s what you want or not.  If you’re interested in a specific type, be sure to check out the linked Instagram page for more, since each person has a ton of awesome pictures!

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Color “Devotion” | Review

Hi friends!

Today I wanted to let you all know my thoughts on the other Revlon Matte Lip Color I own!  In an effort to see if maybe the formula was inconsistent between colors, I wanted to share my experience with another shade.  You can see the original review for Obsession here.

Color: Devotion is a nude pink with slightly yellow undertones.  It’s a color that I think also looks very flattering on me.  However, once again the formula disappointed me.

Applicator: The triangular shaped applicator is definitely one of my favorites, and it made applying easy and quick.  There’s enough product on both sides to get my entire lips without having to dip the wand in for more product.
