Colourpop took the world by storm a few years ago when they released their super shock shadows & ultra matte lips at an incredibly affordable price. Another thing Colourpop is known for? Limited edition! So many colors that I’ve purchased have been discontinued.
One color that is still around though is Creeper, which is one of the original colors they released when they first started!
Color: Creeper is a bright, blue-based red. It has a definite pink appearance, and when the product transferred it left behind a pink stain.
Packaging: Colourpop’s packaging is notoriously bad; the writing on the tubes rubs off incredibly easily. Other than that, it’s a nice, very standard silver cap and clear tube that looks functional and basic! I own the sample size of this color, but packaging is identical between this and the full size; just smaller.
Applicator: The applicator is also an incredibly basic doefoot shape. Nothing too interesting to report there!
Application: I found that applying this product was both easy and a little more difficult. The basic doefoot shape made it easy to use, but it didn’t pick up much product and was surprisingly dry (not the formula, the doefoot specifically!).
I was able to get my bottom lip in one swipe but I needed to go back into the tube a few times to get product onto the wand for the top lip. It was also difficult doing it in that order because all the product would be on the tip of the wand and so I’d have to wipe it off or risk getting a weird clump of product on my cupid’s bow.
Transfer: Even though this is a matte liquid lip, I had so many problems with it transferring. Right away as I was drinking my coffee I had a bright pink mark on the edge of my mug. That was kind of a testament to how the rest of the day went in terms of transferring – every time I ate or drank something there was lipstick coming off.
Fading: Despite the fact that I had a lot of transfer issues with this lipstick, it had almost no fading! I had it on for close to twelve hours and ate oily food and still had red lips by the end of the night. While it wasn’t the prettiest appearance by the end of the day, that had to do more with my lips looking dry and not having problems with the color.
If you plan on eating a bunch of greasy food, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the lasting power on this, but you’ll still have to touch up. This is a bold color, so if it comes off while eating you definitely need to reapply it, but after I ate pizza for dinner it was just the very center of my lips that needed more product; the rest of it looked normal.
One thing to keep in mind is that since this transfers, it’s important to check up after you eat to make sure you don’t have lipstick on your chin (this does happen to me!). While it’s not a deal breaker for me, it might be something that bothers you. Plus you don’t want to walk around with a red spot on your chin!
Comfort: In terms of comfort, I felt like this was as comfortable as any other liquid lipstick, so if you have problems with liquid lips drying you out, I might pass on these. Alternatively, if you use lip balm the night before and the morning of and wipe it off before applying this lipstick, you probably won’t have as many issues! I didn’t end up trying that because I personally wasn’t bothered by the way that my lips had looked the first time.
By the end of the day, my lips looked pretty dry. I had product clinging to the dry spots, but it didn’t look especially patchy; just extra spots of red. The color had accentuated my lines a little bit, but again that’s to be expected with this type of formula.
Overall: I had a spectacular experience with this product! I know I didn’t make it sound amazing, but despite a lot of transferring, it didn’t effect the overall appearance of my lips, which is much more important to me than whether it comes off on other things or not. It’s easy to wipe off where it’s not supposed to be, and lasts for an unbelievable amount of time.
If you’re looking for a beautiful red, I would definitely recommend this one! You can find it on the Colourpop website or Ulta for $6.50.
